I think we have technology which is so advanced we actually can’t get it to function correctly.
It’s in the U.S. government’s best interests to hide what we have because the longer we deny and ignore and put off the question, the more time we have to examine and reverse engineer the technology.
We probably understand fundamentals in how it functions but it would be the equivalent of someone from the 1800s examining an iPhone. We can only really examine and understand the tech as we develop. So progress has very likely been slow.
If the U.S. announced will full honesty that aliens not only exist but we have exotic interstellar craft created by them (whether crashed or captured intact) the first thing the world would do is set up an international body and pressure the government to hand over this technology.
It’s about power and control.
Whoever holds the keys to the interstellar craft is the person who molds the future of the world. If that falls into an international body like the UN, it’s a lesser evil. If it falls into the hands of the Russian or Chinese governments, that could shift in a much darker direction.
That isn’t a defense of the United States holding the keys. Our goals are probably hell as well. My point is simply from our government’s perspective, us holding onto this technology is in OUR best interest and that’s the only interest the government really has. They don’t care about anybody else outside of how it relates to economic stability in worldwide markets or foreign policy related to conflict.
Short answer control.
Longer answer. They don’t want us to find out they are complacent in cattle and human destruction and have given the greenlight to abuct and experiment on the civilians of any country for technology we couldn’t create for hundreds if not a few 1000 years.
Most people if not almost all have no clue about what the greater good is or the big picture. They are mostly concerned about things like freedom and self sacrifice and emotions and people being individuals.
The people won’t understand the sacrifice those deals gave the rest of us.
If the aliens wanted us to know, we’d know. They lurk at night abducting children, I don’t think they want that to be confirmed. The secret government is probably overrun with human hybrids.

This pops up from time to time.. the idea that a very large 10th planet in a huge 2,000+ year elliptical orbit around our sun. When it nears, it causes extinction level events on earth. I read a Russian GRU document from the early 80s that described this as well.
If true, I wonder if secrecy around UFOs may be part of this… not enough «life boats» for everyone. The earth power structure is working to develop tech and multi planetary habitatation before it happens to ensure at least have a small portion survives.

Fear is the answer. When an intelligence, being or some ultra advanced civilization comes in contact with us we are like a bunch of ants. We have some basic problem solving abilities but not to the point that we warrant more than a casual study.
Our governments are aware of them but don’t understand them. What do we do when we don’t understand? We fear it or seek ways to destroy it. As futile as that endeavor would be, we would still try.
Fear and yes control are the reasons for the secrecy.
Because the tech is so advanced, we’d be beyond the government’s control.
Why are Aliens waiting for the government to announce them? Why not just introduce themselves to us?
The less other people know, the more their imagination fills in the gaps with fear. They dont want to admit we have them and our minda are boggled. They would rather other people think we have them and they work for us.
Because there are two sides involved.
1. One side wants to go public with ET existence & technology because they believe it will advance humanity on a moral, spiritual, and technological level.
2. The other side wants to keep everybody in the dark because they think the truth would de-stabilize the world, and the technology would be used in a negative way.
I agree with both sides. There are a lot of religious people who would have their world turned upside down and people would have less faith in their government to protect its people from advanced beings. But on the flip side, zero energy tech would revolutionize travel, and the earth could get cleaned up big time.

If we persist with single use resources, purely for the sake of profit, while stimying technological advances, just for the sake of maintaining the status qou, then we don’t deserve their technology.
We’re a broken species that’s been infected by ideologies that have pulled us away from our place in nature. It is abysmal. No wonder they just watch and observe us, abducting some from time to time. Their the zoo keepers and we’re the wild life.
Even if we do break their technology, what then? Are they just going to ignore our refusal to evolve towards maximum efficiency and instead gorge ourselves like maggots at a crime scene? I’m appalled at our behavior. It’s like having visitors for the first time in decades and getting caught with your pants down drinking piss.
UFOs/aliens at this point in our history is simply a cover up for what they’re actually doing. They are more than happy to have the public claiming we have alien tech because it’s a threat to our enemies.
There is no reason for them to confirm anything because the lack of details causes conspiracy theorists to fill in the blanks with even more crazy shit, which in turn helps to muddy the waters even more.

I think the truth is much more boring than all these conspiracy theories.
Governments likely don’t know exactly what they’re dealing with. I don’t believe for a second that governments and aliens are somehow in cahoots with each other.
I don’t think humanity’s reaction to NHI will be a positive one. I don’t think we’d have a mass panic situation but definitely a mass disruption to society in general because we’re pretty stupid.
It’s likely kept quiet to keep other countries from finding out what they have.
