I know the X-Files theme being played on UFO segments on news broadcasts has become *extremely* fucking annoying, but the show itself was fucking great. At least up until just after the movie.
If I remember right Chris Carter once said that government insiders once told him that some of his stuff was more accurate than he realized
The funniest part about this is that it’s X-Files.
Two people who regularly encounter FUCKING MONSTERS for a living, but having a debate that Roswell couldn’t possibly be real.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The writers on X-Files were very knowledgeable on the topics, they based the stories off a very good understanding of actual conspiracies, instead of just making the stories up themselves, at least for a lot of the episodes. That show is great, and I would recomemend people watch it, or rewatch it if you’ve been following whats been going on with UFOs and the coverup in the past couple of years.
«Mulder, you’re crazy.»
I recently rewatched a few episodes of THE X FILES (I know, but hear me out) and I noticed some very exciting moments that reminded me of current developments. Somehow almost a sense of Déjà vu, you could say. Let’s remember that, for example, this particular episode aired for the first time on September 12, 1994. That’s right, almost 30 years ago. Roughly three years after the end of the Cold War, ten years before the Nimitz encounters in 2004. And what else happened or was published before the turn of the millennium. And I keep asking myself … did Chris Carter already know something specific (other than Roswell) or at least had a suspicion? Was he trying to tell us through the lens of art? Who inspired whom?
I’m just playing with thoughts here. None of this should be used as (counter)proof for anything. That’s not the point. We’re all friends here, right? However … isn’t that weird to see nearly three decades later?
Anyway. What do you think? What moments in a movie or tv show come to mind that—as crazy as they were—suddenly don’t feel so incredibly absurd after all these years?
Literally just watched this last night. trippy.
Scully’s skepticism in the face of seeing first hand extra terrestrial technology was always ridiculous to me.
I just watched this last night.
Best will they won’t they in TV history, this show changed my life and made me wonder about things I never would have otherwise.
My Mom volunteered at the library, so after watching this show and TNG I started looking at UFO books while she did her work. They made me realize pretty quickly that there was something to this, unlike Bigfoot, or Nessie (although maybe it is a creature), ghosts, or whatever else was in the same section.
There was smoke with this potential fire, unlike other paranormal stuff.
She’s right to be skeptical, we all should be.. But I could watch her talk all day long.
That’s it I gotta watch all the X files now. Duck
She aged like a goddamn fine wine. #SmashSmashSuuuhhhhSMASH
Years from now, this series will be seen as a documentary.
What episode is this?
I fookin loved this episode. So good.
Didn’t somebody in sone kind of authority tell Chris Carter he had no idea how close to the truth he really was?
We really need a reboot of that show
The Walt Disney Company should reboot «The X Files» in a creative way that takes into account the emerging discourse and the new information.
That means the movie Men in Black is based off of real life lol. As a kid I thought that would be my dream job.
I just watched this episode last night! Spooky.
I miss that show.
Most TV shows featuring ghosts, white light after death, reincarnation, aliens, ufos, men in black, souls, matrix etc are all based off of stories and first hand witnesses. Most movie writers aren’t very creative. But most people think they originate from movies and refuse to even consider it any more real than Santa Claus and Harry Potter.
This show (I loved it) made UFOs popular and cool. From my point of view they were positioned positively and took away the fear people had regarding everything that was unexplainable.
Reviewed today I would bet a whole lot of money that this show played a big part in a disinformation campaign, that was installed around that time. If you control the information you control the power.
The older I get, the more I feel like this show was written by the pentagon.
Me as a kid: Ew, Mulder is old and ugly!
Me now: 👀👀👀
Classsssssic.
