This was a mass sighting.
Around the 50th anniversary it happened again at the end of July of 2002. I recently went searching for an old video on YouTube that featured the 2002 incident from a news channel and couldn’t find it anymore. It was all over the news at the time because of our situation at the time. Now all information on it is gone except for one news article I found in the Los Angeles Times published July 28th 2002. I am curious if anyone else remembers or can find any other sources of information on this. All but one article remains that I can find and it’s really weird considering the time period. I’m extremely interested in this case due to the low amount of coverage and it’s apparent central and high risk location. This event would have been like a DEFCON scenario if it really happened.
Also, I’ve been around for a while. In the early days of the internet this event was basically never discussed. It’s come up again more recently and I’m not sure why that might be.
In my opinion, this is when the military went from investigating the issue to considering it a threat. Weve missed out on the truth as a result
People always talk about them landing on the white house lawn, the aliens are like «wtf we went to the white house in 1952!»

I started believing that UFOs were military craft from possibly Area 51. Experimental strange craft that can do physics defying things, like the orbs, the bright lights constantly witnessed. Especially in the desert near military bases and nuclear silos. But this case is a great example of how similar cases were seen decades ago, and witnessed by many people for more than a few minutes. Radar across the capital were picking it up. Pilots were seeing them. And still, people doubt it was anything out of the ordinary, claiming (as they do for modern sightings — even by professional military pilots) the weather impacted the radar sensors.
Could they still be military craft? Possibly, but I’m personal skeptical of that view. I don’t think we possess the tech or knowledge to push craft without propulsion, beyond Mach 10 — 20. Or to build small orbs that can move from sea level to tens of thousands of feet in the air within a second.
