  1. I’m not going to question the claims made here because it looks accurate, but I want to point a few things out just for clarity. Quite a few cylinder sightings occurred in the late 1890s (technically 19th century, so out of the scope of your post) and in 1946 during the Swedish Ghost rocket wave. You can find sightings of them going back to 1873 here: https://np.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/nh4l36/reminder_the_only_thing_new_about_the_tictac/ Another sighting in 1561: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1561_celestial_phenomenon_over_Nuremberg

    The first mention of the exact triangle depicted in the drawing above was actually in 1960 as far as I’m aware. Info on that here: https://np.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/onj9m3/a_brief_history_of_triangular_uaps/h5s3wfw/ That particular triangle was also photographed by a military pilot a few years ago (photo not leaked yet): https://thedebrief.org/fast-movers-and-transmedium-vehicles-the-pentagons-uap-task-force/

    Discs are still sighted in recent years. You can find a bunch on NUFORC. A disk was videoed in 2007: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obVsLOiqeC4 And photographed in 2007: https://web.archive.org/web/20130408231506/http://www.ufoevidence.org/photographs/section/recent/Photo416.htm

    But it is interesting that they kind of bunched up in certain years. There isn’t a consistent percentage of each in every decade, but I’m not sure if there should be. No matter what the phenomenon is, I don’t think we should have expected that there would be a static percentage of each of them year to year.

  2. To attempt a practical (and speculative) look at this.

    **1940-1960: Saucers** — Coincides with first civilian atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, instigated extra-terrestrial interest in Earth. Saucers have capacity for passenger(s) and technology for interstellar travel. They start sending over representatives for surveillance, contact, negotiations, greet and meets, collect Galactic Federation membership fees, sell nuclear damage insurance, etc.

    **1950-1980: Cigars** — Cargo vehicles, i.e. interstellar trucks. Already surveyed Earth with saucers, committed to on-planet or near-planet physical presence. Transport equipment via cigar/cylinders to set up local infrastructure, accommodations, suppliers (maybe food, favorite space coffee, etc).

    The types with portholes are interstellar yacht cruises, allowing their elite tier to be the first (bragging rights) space tourists from their society to laugh at our uncouth savage civilization from safe distance, occasional flashes we see in the sky from craft are literally just flashes from their cameras. Wealthy people are universally eccentric, some of their wealthy abide by the equivalent of our steampunk aesthetic, thus use antique cameras with flash technology.

    **1970-1990: Triangles** — Can carry passengers and can land on ground. Mainly used on «manned» Earth missions, surveillance etc, differs from Saucers because interstellar travel not needed for these crafts, and hence doesn’t use exotic (e.g. element 115) technologies that necessitate a circular form. Triangular form suggests greater reliance on aerodynamic physics of Earth conditions, where wind resistance and drag are issues. Might employ a more traditional (relatively speaking) propulsion mechanism where fuel source is more readily available from Earth or nearby.

    **1990 to now: Orbs/Polyhedron** — Autonomous maybe sentient technology. Majority of «manned» missions have been conducted in prior years, these orb objects are for surveillance and monitoring, collect data for experiments they have previously designed in the Triangle craft phase. Might be top of the line alien technology equivalent of CCTV cameras to stop us from continually doing incredibly stupid things, i.e. nuclear. Also could be floating holographic projectors set up in anticipation of announcing the [«Show Me What you Got » competition] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1fZ7Ap6ebs).

    Good post OP, thank you for sharing. It’s really useful to see data like this from an analytical perspective. I have to start using that [UFOcasebook site] (https://www.ufocasebook.com/) more often.

  3. Great Graphic I have been working on classifying UAP’s here’s what I have so far.

    **ORB / Tic-Tac**

    * Tic-tac shaped: cylindrical or oblong with rounded edges resembling a pill or a tic-tac candy.
    * No visible windows, wings, or exhaust plumes.
    * Size estimated to be around 40 feet in length.
    * Described as white or metallic in color.

    * Sighted offshore
    * Multiple sighted together
    * Capable of rapid acceleration and sudden stops.
    * Ability to hover or remain stationary in mid-air.
    * Reported to exhibit unconventional flight patterns such as sudden changes in direction and high-speed maneuvers without any visible means of propulsion.
    * No audible sound during flight.
    * Can travel underwater

    * Costal/Offshore USA

    * The 2004 USS Nimitz incident: Pilots reported encountering a tic-tac-shaped craft off the coast of California.
    * The 2014 Aguadilla Airport incident: A tic-tac-shaped object was seen on radar and by a Customs and Border Protection aircraft.
    * The 2015 USS Roosevelt incident: Crew members reported multiple sightings of tic-tac-shaped objects off the east coast of the United States.
    * The 2019 Gimbal video: The US Navy released footage of a tic-tac-shaped object encountered by pilots off the coast of Florida.
    * The 2019 GoFast video: The US Navy released footage of a tic-tac-shaped object encountered by pilots off the coast of California.

    **Cigar / Cylinder**

    * Cigar or cylinder-shaped, elongated with rounded or tapered ends.
    * Can be up to hundreds of feet long.
    * Typically dark or metallic in color.
    * Smooth and featureless, with no visible windows, wings, or propulsion systems.
    * It may emit a low humming or hissing sound.
    * Some reports suggest that they may have lights or glowing sections.
    * Some sightings describe a row of windows or portholes along the length of the object.

    * Cigar-shaped UFOs/AUPs have been reported to hover motionless in the air for extended periods of time.
    * They have also been reported to move at high speeds and make sudden stops or changes in direction.
    * In some cases, they have been reported to emit bright lights or to glow.

    * Worldwide

    * The 1997 Phoenix Lights incident: Multiple witnesses reported seeing a V-shaped formation of lights that some described as a giant cigar-shaped craft in Arizona.
    * The 2017 O’Hare International Airport incident: United Airlines employees reported a saucer or cigar-shaped object hovering over the airport in Chicago.

    **Disc / Saucer**

    * Typically described as disc-shaped, saucer-shaped, or oval-shaped.
    * Varies in size, from small to large, and can range from a few feet to hundreds of feet in diameter.
    * Often described as metallic in appearance, and may have a smooth or reflective surface.
    * Typically have no visible means of propulsion or means of lift, such as wings or rotors.
    * May have lights or windows on the underside of the craft.
    * Some reports describe the presence of a dome or other structure on the top of the craft.
    * Some witnesses report seeing the craft rotate or spin in place.

    * Disc-shaped UFOs/AUPs have been observed hovering motionless in the air for extended periods of time.
    * They have also been reported to move at high speeds and make sudden stops or changes in direction.
    * Witnesses have reported that disc-shaped objects can move silently through the air, without any audible sound.
    * They have been observed to emit bright lights or to glow.
    * Some reports describe the presence of a beam of light emanating from the bottom of the craft.
    * Disc-shaped objects have been reported to exhibit both intelligent control and autonomous behavior, sometimes seeming to respond to the presence of other aircraft or to human observers.
    * Some reports suggest that disc-shaped objects have landed on the ground or on water, and in some cases, have left physical evidence behind.

    * Worldwide

    * The 1994 Ariel School encounter: Multiple children reported seeing a cigar-shaped craft and humanoid beings in Zimbabwe.
    * The 1947 Roswell incident: Witnesses reported seeing a disc-shaped craft crash near Roswell, New Mexico.
    * The 1952 Washington D.C. UFO incident: Multiple witnesses, including military personnel and air traffic controllers, reported seeing disc-shaped objects flying over the U.S. Capitol and the White House.
    * The 1966 Westall UFO incident: Witnesses reported seeing a disc-shaped craft flying over a school in Melbourne, Australia.
    * The 1974 Coyne helicopter incident: Witnesses reported seeing a disc-shaped object that collided with a military helicopter in Mansfield, Ohio.
    * The 1981 Trans-en-Provence case: A French farmer reported seeing a disc-shaped object land in a field.
    * The 2006 O’Hare International Airport incident: United Airlines employees reported seeing a metallic, disc-shaped object hovering over the airport in Chicago, Illinois.

  4. It’s interesting to me that certain objects come and go. For example, you really don’t see very many saucers or disc shaped objects anymore. The last notable case that I can recall was the 2006 O’Hare incident — which was 17-18 years ago.

    These days it seems mostly orbs and spheres; many of which are very small in size.

    It makes one speculate, why are certain objects phased in and out of view? Multiple NIHs or a single NIH with differing vessels? If there is only 1-2 NIHs, then why the different vessels?

  5. Source for data: [https://www.ufocasebook.com/](https://www.ufocasebook.com/)

    As pictured above:

    * **Saucer and disc-type UFOs** — most reported between 1940 and 1960.
    * **Cigar and cylinder-type UFOs** — most reported between 1950 and 1980.
    * **Triangular and flying V-type UFOs** — most reported between 1970 and 1990.
    * **Orb and polyhedron-type UFOs** — most reported between 1990 and the present day.

    Please note that metrics for these are ***based on alleged sightings***, the bulk of which are civilian captures, and DO NOT account for hoaxes, fakes, or misrepresentations of observed objects.

  6. I’m not so sure about the dates.
    I know someone who saw a flying saucer in 1995. Also a lot of black triangles the last few years, probably more than orbs.
    I’ve never heard of the «polyhedron» type.

  7. Well at least you got the categories mostly correct

    It’s not a cigar. It’s shaped like a brick. You might think it’s cylindrical. It’s not.

    The ‘flying V’ appearance is an atmospheric effect, something to do with how it’s bending light. In actuality it’s always a solid triangle.

  8. And the obky one that at all resembles a vehicle we know exists is the V shapes. And even that, i really doubt that many people would be that confised by a jet shaped that way. Its not that unreal looking (like f117 i mean) its not like that reverse wing sukhoi confused everyone.

    I think many debunkeds and skeptics dont give enough credit to some observers. I know many people are dumb, but people can still imagine tech thats within grasp fir humanities technology level. Its not quite the same as showing a drone to a neolithic hunter gatherer.
