I read a comment the other day in this r/ saying that for us to hope that the aliens “come and save us” (e.g. give us tech beyond our wildest dreams that enables us to lead carefree lives where we don’t pay bills or go to work anymore) is akin to us noticing a bug going down our sink and being aware its life is ending and not caring. Same way we could interfere and save its life, we might as well give every animal species in this planet the very best living conditions they could ever have and yet we let them go through every hardship, because such is life, but not only that but most of our species only care about ourselves, not even other humans. Why would aliens help us? Maybe they see us, they are here for reasons that are beyond our understanding and they don’t give a shit about us, one of them may think it’s funny to squash us like we do a fly and another one might be feeling funny and do some little trick to give us a brainfart.
Maybe, just maybe, for I have no idea about anything, if we showed we care about other species and we were really the gardeners of planet Earth they would feel more comfortable about interacting with us, but who knows? Maybe it’s the other way around and our bloodthirsty ways deter them from invading.
to be fair, a lot of humans that claim to love animals also fund them being kept in tiny cages and exploited or killed because the ‘food’ tastes nice to them. others claim to love them and kill them in apparently ‘fairer’ ways. in either case, most of the time great alternatives are readily available to them.
maybe NHI would claim to love us but also be like ‘oooo I just love human burgers too much to stop killing them! they’re less intelligent than us anyway, so it’s ok’

If we discovered another planet that we were able to access without interfering and learn about life, I would imagine we would want to study them and help them if we had the chance.
Would only hope it would be the same if someone visited us.
I find it wild how bad we are talking about ourselves. Its good to acknowledge our flaws but a reminder that we are very empathetic/social beings. People are so focused nowadays to prove how “different” they are. In reality I feel like we mirror each other so much

Yes but I think if they just get rid of humans then the Earth should go to some other primate species. Personally I would give it to the gibbons or lemurs, I feel like they’re pretty chill and would make fun inhabitants for a forest planet. One point of view
It was home to millions of species multiple times, with a great number of them being extinguished by each extinction event. Hell, at one point, life became so scarce that it’s still amazing that it came back at all.
Another point of view
We can be targeted and eliminated without harming any other species.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking we are safe (if we are even in danger to begin with) simply because we share this planet with other species. If they want to, they will find a way.
They only have to make a compound or virus 🦠 that would prevent humans from synthesizing folic acid and humanity would die leaving the earth and animals intact. They wouldn’t need to exterminate all of us, just most of us.
They’d probably be willing to help the animals once they advance to a more peaceful and enlightened state. /s

Imagine setting up an entire species of humans in a literal garden of eden and letting them get on with it while you pop back home for some bits but when you get back you find out that they’ve intentionally absolutaly trashed the place and aren’t far from destroying it all. I for one would be a teeny bit unhappy.
Some of us make efforts to preserve them, but most of us actively wipe them out. Animals are dope though I 100% agree.
