They used to be my tenant in a nondescript industrial park in the LA suburbs. They were high security and very secretive. My contacts were all former military. I still have no idea what they did there, I assumed lab R&D. They paid their rent in time and never complained about anything. They maintained their own HVAC. When I saw their name associated with this story earlier today my jaw was on the floor.

Battelle isn’t some kind of like, shadow organization like y’all are suggesting.
It’s in the open and works with different research including running/partially running many of the National Labs (like Livermore and Los Alamos).
That doesn’t mean they might not be involved in the type of research that the poster described.
But I will say that him not mentioning having security clearances at all / the process by which he got hired seems to be very much NOT how things would go in real life.
I’m not sure how Fort Detrick would be, but as far as the natl labs, you’re not getting into most buildings without a clearance (in the case of LANL and LLNL which are under DoE, a Q clearance). And the really sensitive stuff, which alien bodies would definitely be, require a Top Secret as well as specific read in for that program (SCI) and the entire building where the SCI stuff happens is called a SCIF and is extremely secure.
As an example, at some SCIFs anyone without a clearance has to be escorted in by someone trained in how to do so, wear a red vest, and the entire time they are inside there are red lights that indicate the SCIF is not secure and people should not be working with classified materials. Nobody can bring in any electronics, you need special approval for hearing aids, not allowed to bring notebooks or papers in or out.
The poster got so into describing how he got into his BSL3 area from the back of a BSL2 area but having zero mention of the actual security or his clearances makes me think he’s a larper. The place I works has BSLs as well and they are still inside buildings that require a clearance and I believe the most serious bio work is done inside of a SCIF.
So who runs it? Who is their leader? Family owned? What’s its deal?
