They definately must have taken experiences learned from Manhattan project, because that project was leaky as fuck, from what I can tell.
I’ve sometimes had this argument with other likeminded. My best idea so far, is a full sized «skyscraper» built underground, but with total disconnect to the surface physically… Not sure how information, materials etc, would be transported up and down, but I still feel like this would be the only way a real «secret» program would work.
People would live and die there. Basically the current show «Silo».
The sad truth is humanity isnt ready for near-unlimited energy. It would take one crazy religous sect getting thier hands on a device to annihilate the planet. What if the actual building of this device is simple, we just havent put the right elements together yet. Like making a cake, we have a pile of flour water sugar eggs ect but it never occured to us to use an oven. In my opinion, the knowlegde once release would definativly end the world.
It could be even simpler than what you describe. Here’s an analogy.
Nuclear bombs: «See that city there? Make it disappear.»
Vacuum energy bombs: «See that solar system there? Make it disappear.»
Nuclear physics: a bright high school student could build a bomb based on knowledge in their textbooks and on the internet, but it’s almost impossible to get enough fissile materials together without having a huge industry and billions of dollars.
Vacuum energy physics: a bright high school student could build a bomb using money they made over the summer working at McDonald’s, if anyone leaked the UFO-derived physics theories on the internet.
Suddenly it makes sense why the NSA monitors all communications and independent inventors of free energy devices get suicided.
It’s entirely possible that widespread knowledge of the true laws of physics would make a civilization so fragile that the only way to maintain a civilization after the point of discovery is either to keep everyone except a chosen elite in the dark or to replace the biologically-evolved civilization with mind-controlled clones controlled by an AI, as the grey aliens are alleged to be.
Possible, but the same issues with spies and leaks exists today. And why would we think the US is the only country with retrieved crashed UFOs? Do we think the US is the only country with the ability to reverse engineer recovered extraterrestrial technology? In today’s world other countries have scientists too.
I suppose it’s possible many countries could have such efforts under way and keeping them top-secret. But I don’t think those efforts could be top-secret for long.
I’d wager if there were such recovered craft, a multi-national effort is underway to understand them so we could collectively protect the planet. If there were ever an alien invasion of Earth, the invaders aren’t going to see our borders.
For me this is novel Game Theory.
Game Theory and evolution tells us that expecting players to move to a *collaberative* strategy doesn’t happen often if not incentivized. However we’ve been able to observe natural and man made systems that skirt around the issue. We see collaberative strategies in the animal kingdom or plant ecosystem, and we see algorithms and computer models such as blockchain which solve some issues of Game Theory.

I think for the purposes of our scenario here, ideally, ET’s are stepping in and trying to form a model that we can move towards that disolves some of the problems of Game Theory. To expect numerous ‘cold war game theory obsessed’ global institutions to all decide to have collaberative strategies suddendly is a big ask.
But with less stress on resources and energy, less ignorance, less inequality and higher individual empowerment (away from nationality) game theory moves a little out of the global picture but it would take progeressive adoption and scientific models with AI to replace global service infastructure to enable decentralised local govenance.
In simple terms, what I believe OP is aluding to is a simple game theory issue. If we can’t rely on ET’s to assist us with that and migrate governance into a progressive model. That means we’re on our own and if we’re to do that alone it’s a significant challenge as the people with power and stake in the existing global institutions are the least incentivised to change it.
Edit: Depending on how viable the UFO/Nuke link is, there might already be Evidence that ET’s already control our Nuclear capailities until we can ‘play nice’. It’s a nice thought.

Thanks for posting this. i think we need to be able to examine both sides of this issue if we’re to make progress on disclosure. Understanding why the Gov might have done some of the things it has in the past is important to understanding where we are today and how to coax them to come around in the future. I have my doubts, but I wonder if somebody smart stepped in and said something about devastating usage of disruptive tech out-loud, and then we got the day after Roswell scenario. Retract and deny everything. Just weather balloons, carry on.

This is a really good point. Whoever perfects creating the capabilities of UAPs, controls the skies and will cement themselves as the next super power. Of course this will be buried in top secrecy
The problem with secrecy is when you have a hyper compartmentalized organization things can get so confusing and hidden that virtually no one involved has any idea whats really going on, even the leaders of said organization. At that point its not longer a strength because its no longer under control. At that point there is chaos and bad actors can take control. Imagine having a program so massive and secret that no one knows whos running it or how it works, anyone could take control and fill the power vaccum.
There could be virtually anyone in charge including terrorists, dictators etc…. thats why our government has a system of checks and balances. To ensure that no single branch or area of the organization becomes too powerful. Now apply that to the current situation. If no one really knows whata going on or whos running it then the whole planet is at risk. Thats why congress is trying to «take the wheel» and gain some control or oversight.
The biggest flaw in your logic here is that Russia and China currently have UAP that they are working on reverse engineering. They (especially China) could conceivably have a breakthrough before we do.
This tech is only useful to us if we a) successfully reverse engineer it to a degree that we largely understand the tech; and b) manufacture and deploy it on a reasonably large scale, and we must do this before the other super-powers do so.
This is a chance for the US to once again become a tech and manufacturing powerhouse, and to do so (potentially) without having to take advantage of other countries in order to do so.
Also, while they «leaky» Manhattan project may have gained the Soviets a few years, it’s pretty certain they would have developed nuclear weapons in a matter of years anyway. The soviets had some good scientists at that time, and the knowledge was kind of «in the air» at that time as well.
