Not quite the same as in the past. In a good way. With the new intelligence committee laws requiring any government contractor in possession of UAPs to divulge this to congress, it will be much more difficult for a business to hide this information. One rogue employee could bring themselves and their coworkers down with them.
In the past, a rogue, disgruntled employee could make claims of their employer possessing UAP/exotic materials and that’s pretty much where the discussion ended, legally.
With the new laws, a rogue, disgruntled employee could testify under oath of their employer possessing UAP/exotic materials and the congress is obligated to investigate the claims depending on the quality of evidence, testimony, credentials, etc.
Highly advanced human technology makes no sense though, you just have to think a bit about Geo-politics. These things are seen all around the world so to say it’s a secret US project wouldn’t make sense. If china was developing these things, why haven’t they taken back Taiwan already like they have been saying they’re gonna do? And Russia? We all know how well they are doing in Ukraine (that is, terribly). So what other country has made such a leap in technology? France? Australia? Uk? How did they jump past the US so quickly and in such an extraordinary manner? Makes less sense then than UAPs being of Non Human Origin IMO. Sure, the Government could come out and say what you said, but I don’t believe it’s gonna be so easy this time around. It’s 2023 and everyone has access to the Internet and the Pentagon videos.
Yes and no. What usually happens when people with a righteous cause fail to make progress via «proper channels» is that they then resort to extra-legal means to achieve their goals.
So if all that comes out of this latest Disclosure attempt is more of «nothing to see here, move on»— then maybe instead of a Grusch—who’s a «by the book» whistleblower— we’ll see more Snowdens or Assanges etc— who simply say ‘eff that’— and start leaking documents/photos/videos etc out of frustration.

They do that at Great Risk & If they do that it will make the DOD & Intel agencies look inept.
1) AARO has limited access, zero web presence, one red stapler & maybe two part-time interns.
2) Flight Safety is unaddressed and ignored since 2021
3) NASA has re-stigmatized the Topic by allowing Scott Kelly to call all UAP Bart Simpson balloons… this is our Space Agencys response to a Possible National Security threat.

Theoretically, I’d agree. But I’m more hopeful in that it seems that since 2017, enough insiders have orchestrated a slow (quicker now) PR campaign towards disclosure. This faction appears at the moment to have achieved real momentum. You could be right, but the good guys have a fighting chance, which in itself is quite astonishing.
Interesting take. And I tend to agree.
Create a stir, manufacture a threat or risk for «national security» based on lies and deceit, then clamp down. We just went through that back in 2020.
