  1. Context for those that say it’s fake: The photo was front page news in the local rag at the time. It was taken by a man who happened to be in his back yard taking some pictures.

I think it was a week or so before the Westall High incident to which I was a witness. I didn’t jump the fence as some others did for a closer look. Since then, as an amateur astronomer spending many hours at night with telescopes I’ve never seen anything else like it. Look up.

  2. This Melbourne UFO famously looks like the so-called «gimbal UFO» that was filmed by a US Navy fighter jet from the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt in 2015 during a series of encounters in the skies off the eastern seaboard of the USA.

EDIT — here is the US Navy’s un-edited video of the ‘gimbal’ UFO encounter. You can hear the navy pilots talking from plane to plane as they film the thing.

At the very end (0:34 seconds) that UFO rotates to a position perpendicular to the ground… in other words it flies in the same position as the UFO in this still photo from Melbourne.

  3. Bob lazar said that the ufo he worked on would fly as soon as it tilted sideways similar to what the photo depicts here. The navy video released also demonstrated a craft that began to accelerate as it tilted to its side too. Interesting.

  4. I’ve read that this was one of the only pictures left of that incident. Apparently the cameras or the film was collected from the teachers or confiscated. This picture was taken apparently before it got to the school.

  5. Has anyone commented how this looks like a receptionist ringer bell tossed up in the sky and quickly snapped? Turn it 90 degrees clockwise and I’d assume the protruding part is the base of the bell.

Interesting that there was a mass sighting right after this was published… I’m curious HOW published it was, did those ~400 people already hear of this before?

Ps this healthy skepticism is coming from someone who’s had for sure 1, maybe 2 person «sightings» in their life and believes in this stuff. There is 100% more than us out there and I’ve personally experienced this.

  6. The part that feels so suspicious to me is how the UFOs have changed pretty congruently with human technology. Any „evidence“ from the 60s (ie: here) and the UFOs seem to fit what was considered high tech of that era. And any other sightings since, they all seem to look on par with what society at large seem/-ed to think an advanced society would be able to come up with. It’s suspect.

  7. It’s clearly a cooking pot or a bowl thrown up in the air.

You can even see the motion of it moving upwards by the motion blur.

The angle would be the only angle possible if it was tossed in the air also.

If the motion blur was sideways, then fair enough — but it’s not.

  8. Looks kinda faked to me. I’m usually a believer but the skeptic in me screams this is fake. This seems like it was done with a chrome salad bowl & a few other parts added to it or maybe even the inside of a headlight from a car & hung on a very thin string hidden by the blurry effect. Also the photographer just happened to be out there with a camera & in 1966? Usually if its too good to be true it very often is.

  9. Remember when ufos looked like horizontal flying saucers? And then bob lazar says they fly on their side and then all of a sudden all the photos are now off these things on their side? I smell some bullshit.

  10. Debunked: The hotel front desk agent got annoyed at the bell that cuatomers kept dinging so she threw it out the window. This picture was taken of the bell mid flight by someone with a disposable Kodak camera.

  11. The Westall UFO photo refers to an image taken by a witness named Andrew Greenwood on April 6, 1966, in Clayton South, Melbourne, Australia, just days before the Westall High School mass UFO sighting. The photograph shows a disc-shaped object hovering in the sky with several people looking up at it.

There are several explanations that could account for the object in the photograph. It is possible that the object was a weather balloon or some other type of scientific equipment used for atmospheric research. It could also have been a military or experimental aircraft that was being tested in the area.

Another possibility is that the object was a genuine unidentified flying object, or UFO. While many people associate UFOs with extraterrestrial life, the term simply refers to any object in the sky that cannot be identified. It is worth noting that the term «UFO» does not necessarily imply that the object is of extraterrestrial origin.

As for the mass sighting at Westall High School, there are several possible explanations as well. Some people have suggested that the students may have seen a large flock of birds or other natural phenomenon, while others believe that the sighting may have been a hoax or a misinterpretation of something else entirely.

Without further evidence, it is impossible to definitively determine what the witnesses saw in either case. However, it is worth noting that there are many documented cases of unexplained aerial phenomena throughout history, and the possibility of intelligent life beyond Earth cannot be ruled out entirely.
