A lot of Christian theologians have addressed this issue thoughtfully. CS Louis has written about other «rational beings» (he called them fairies for some reason) and that their existence is not a contradiction to Christian theology. Now that being said, fundamentalists and harcore conservatives who don’t believe in biblical scholarship will be the problem.
Religious people are most likely to commit human atrocities and we should never cater to their “needs”.
My takeaway is this: Until a couple of years ago the complex has dealt with UFOs through programs they managed to keep secret from the representatives of the people by essentially finding money lost in the couch.
What has transpired that now requires far more funding than they can they can keep secret?
My theory is that we’ve crossed some technological threshold enabling us to detect/track/engage with the phenomenon to some extent, that mandates significant funding for gear and personnel. It’s also possible there’s been a qualitative change in UFO activity that requires us to take it more seriously and spend more money on it.

Didn’t the James Webb team get like 40 some theologists together to help craft a statement/study in case we find evidence of extraterrestrial life whether microorganisms or something more complex and what that messaging would look like?
