I assume this rumor arose out of the Thule accident in 1968. A US B-52 carrying 4 thermonuclear bombs crashed on the ice. When everything on board exploded, the nuclear weapons were scattered and lost, contaminating large areas with radioavtive material. It triggered an enormous recovery and clean-up operation. They build «camp Hunziker» on the site. Look it up.

What if these UFOs, both current and historical/archeological are us from before the collapse of civilization from a major impact on the Earth.
We’re just finding what was still preserved in some way from that era. The modern UFOs and bodies we’re encountering are us, but more evolved biologically and technologically.
The greys (if there are any) could be a shift in evolution, or more likely, genetically altered and created meat puppets that are used to avoid modern humans immediately finding out that it’s just us flying around and checking in on our remaining Earthly cousins.

I read a book where they found aliens crashed in the ice in Greenland. Some soldiers climbed down in. The aliens were huge and they killed everyone. Except for our hero, of course, who escaped while discovering that this was where the aliens were breeding their young.

Born in 92’ and am a horror Movie fiend. Can confirm the original “The Thing” has in itself and by itself created a niche that is one of a kind.
As for a horror movie before my time I’ve yet to see another movie give off the same vibe.
See “Alien” imo will have to go down as one of the best movies let alone sci-fi horror movies of all time. But it just isn’t the same type of movie as “The Thing”. Alien is ominously jump scary.
