This is actually a video of the second sighting a day or two later. It’s pretty certain that this video is of flares being dropped by a plane and explained why it winks into view. The original sighting was of a large triangle vehicle that flew across the state. Perhaps the first was real and the second was the military operation to confuse the two and help explain it away.
My Aunt called me, I was 13, living in Milpitas, CA., I was deep into UFO’s and conspiracies even then. Thought she was honestly hoaxing me, until a week later. When I got the Kodak pictures from the disposable and from the Mailman, not the greatest quality, but undeniable as well.
A guy I work with lived there and had the craft fly over him. It wasn’t flares. I have heard you could see stars between the lights. He said it went right over him and blocked out the stars.

I don’t understand how so many folks still think ufos are nonsense. We’ve literally had 100s if not 1000s of well documented sightings in the last 75+ years. US Military pilots are telling us what they saw. Lmao it’s so obvious we have been visited by numerous species. Imagine if the modern internet and camera phones existed in Phoenix on this night.
If y’all end up in AZ, there’s an annual Phoenix Lights festival/conference every year in PHX that brings put the Ufologists and whatnot.
Is it possible that this was an ill-fated attempt at disclosure which was misunderstood by the masses?

These are flares. This link is the only known actual sighting of the object. It’s not very clear and always hard to find. I’ve seen a couple longer cleaned up versions but this is the only one I could find.

These are **obviously** flares dropped in a turn. These were allegedly dropped by an a-10 warthog attack aircraft *after* the real triangular UFO passed through the state. There is one video of the actual triangle UFO but for some crazy reason it’s never shown when people present this case, it’s always these flares.

The way that the Phoenix lights began to ‘appear’ it looks like an alien or two ran down a very long corridor in a rather massive invisible object, and started turning on every bathroom light in the front of the craft that they could find.
The Phoenix lights = A very sizable pile of «no-way» and for all intents and purposes there STILL doesn’t seem to be 1-single photograph anywhere which shows the outline of an actual craft.
On the other hand though ….
The V-shaped UFO with five visible lights spread evenly along its underside that flew from Henderson, Nevada to Paulden, Arizona on March 13, 1997 … at least an hour before the Phoenix lights ever showed up, is the real McCoy.
The event portrayed in this post will always remain as one of the poorest distractions from an actual sighting, that has ever taken place.
I remember, it happened on my 19th birthday. I’m 45 now, that’s how long ago it was.
In 1997 I was 16 and I saw a similar event (5 red lights in a boomerang formation moving silently at low altitude) in Santiago, Chile. Just during the last 10 years i found out about the Phoenix Lights. I’m blown away every time i watch footage like this.
I was 11 years old and living in Spokane, WA when my mom was on the phone with some coworker who had been sent to Phoenix at the time.
The woman was watching these things and said they moved into a triangle formation sort of thing. They were most definitely not flares. Flares don’t go into formation.
That’s what sparked my interest in UFO’s; I’ve been at it ever since. I’m 36 now.
You guys know that the lights in this video are flares. Not saying that the event didn’t happen, just the lights in this video are not the object.

Not a ufo at all, this has been resolved, an air force base was conducting practice drills that night, and the pilots involved testified that they couldn’t return to base with their illumination flares so they dumped them. They follow the characteristics of slowly dropping flares, there are videos on YouTube showing that the lights descended behind the mountains, and they disappeared as they became blocked by the mountains. They were never above Phoenix.
But, on that same night, there was a genuine very exciting state-wide sighting of a gigantic boomerang-shaped airship with a row of bright lights arranged across the leading edge of the craft. Witnesses saw it fly directly over them, they were stunned by its incredible size and lack of sound, truly a possible extraterrestrial object.
Amoung the witnesses was the Arizona governor who had military experience, he later admitted that it could not have been from this planet.
So we have two separate events on the same night, the Phoenix lights were flares, and the giant craft was a genuine unknown flying object.
Had never noticed they line up more or less with the ridge line…. Hmmmm

Thats actually flares. The actual craft wasn’t video taped. They shot up flares after and then put that footage on the news

There are only a couple poor quality vids of the miles wide v-shaped craft that cruised the whole state hours before at twilight, as far as imperfect memory says.
These aren’t the Phoenix lights. These are flares dropped by the military after the mass sighting as a plausible cover story.
The mass sighting was documented to be at dusk, not night time and was a massive triangular craft with five or seven lights in a V shape along its hull. Fife Symington reported this himself.
Please stop posting this as the Phoenix lights. This isn’t helping anyone.

As I recall there were two specific events….the first being the V that traveled a fair distance north to south-early in the evening…like 8pm. Pretty sure that one was eventually explained to be 5 planes with lights. The next event was around 10pm, which was reported to be flares dropped from planes. Think this video is of the later of the two events? Not saying I agree with those conclusions, but it’s interesting nonetheless.
Does anyone remember if either event was broadcast live or was it video that later aired? I thought it was live in 1997, but couldn’t find anything related to the timeline of video being presented.
The lights seen over Phoenix have been thoroughly explained, the pilots involved have testified that it was an exercise, when they were done they dropped all of their illumination flares, this video proves that they were never over Phoenix, you can see how they disappear behind the mountains in the distance.
There was a second unrelated incident that same night where hundreds of witnesses reported seeing a gigantic V-shaped craft flying silently all around Arizona, but NOT over Phoenix.

I saw this off the coast of florida in 2002 or 2003…thought it was a flare and started to call coast guard but then multiple lit up simultaneously and stayed still. Then turned off together. I think i saw three maybe 4 big lights very similar Wild to see this again.
This isn’t any kind of contest, it’s a set of facts and assumptions, there are no winners or losers hence the checkmate doesn’t apply to this discussion.
It’s interesting to think about this event in the wake of postulations on the possibility of a mothership in our solar system.
