Who?
Isaac Newton was sticking needles in his eyes to try and change the refraction of light and expand his vision beyond the visible spectrum. He believed strongly in alchemy.
Nikola Tesla believed in harvesting the invisible energy fields around us and using them to distribute free and abundant electricity for the world.
Astronomers in the late 1800s believed martians cut canals into the surface of mars and that little green men lived in cloud cities on Venus. This wasn’t considered science fiction, but rather science fact and the same astronomers went on to contribute greatly to our understanding of the solar system.
My point is, scientists who are competent and intelligent often make their best contributions on the edge of what’s known. The problem with being on the edge of what’s known is that it’s often so misunderstood, that while some of the conclusions they draw are correct and rewrite history, others end up being wrong and seem crazy in hindsight when better information becomes available.
The industrial waste hypothesis for the spherical is as much a hypothesis as the alien spacecraft hypothesis from Loeb. Same with Omuamua. We just don’t know. Ridiculing one hypothesis over the other in the absence of absolute knowledge is stupid and even if Loeb is wrong on this, he’s still a competent scientific mind.

Used to be a fan of Rebecca Watson back in the SGU days but she has since turned into child hormone replacement apologist for the trans movement, she is clearly now politically motivated in her science reporting and her
Judgements in my opinion, shouldn’t be trusted!
Oh wow, so we’re all fucking stupid over here huh?
Let’s be real, that guy Loeb is in an ego trip and abusing his harvard position.
I wouldn’t trust anything coming from him.
