  1. It reminds me of what I read once that Spielberg was «advised» by Intel officials on details for some of his movies. Like Contact of the Third Kind, which Jacques Valée and others deem very close to reality.

I didn’t know about this show bit it’s too damn close for comfort to what seems to be happening.

Gentlemen, ladies, all humans worthy of love, maybe the gaslight flame’s been warm enough until now, but a blizzard is coming.

  2. This has been a part of the UFO phenomenon since at least the 1950s. Here is a quote from chapter 19 of *The Flying Saucer Conspiracy* [1955] entitled «The Vanishing Planes.» It reads

    >»I rechecked that Kimross report,» Captain Hudson told me, «no bodies were ever found, nor any wreckage.» Has the Air Force ever made the cause public? «We assumed,» Captain Hudson replied, «that the plane went into the lake.»

    >I showed him a list of the accidents which have been linked with the saucers. «There are dozens of unsolved cases,» I told him, «but most of them probably had ordinary causes.» I used only the ones that have been definitely linked to the saucers— the Kimross, Wellsville, and Idelwild accidents.

    >»Do you remember the Air Force Intelligence Colonel who stated ATIC would consider even the most extravagant ideas in the hope of solving the saucer mystery?» «Yes.» «Look magazine quoted him in 1952. One idea they must have considered is that the plane wasn’t destroyed at all.» «You mean the saucer got carried it off?» «Don’t tell me you never thought of it.» «Yes,» I said slowly. «I did when I heard that the two blips merged, but I never really believed it. That would be too fantastic.» «Certainly it’s fantastic. So are the saucers. So are the ideas of airplanes and space rockets.» «But for a saucer to make off with a plane?» «Look. We ourselves have motherships that launch and retrieve small machines. 20 years ago if anybody had told you we’d have B-36 bombers taking sabre jet fighters aboard, you’d have thought he was crazy.»

Spielberg specifically mentions that he gets his ideas for his films from ufo lore.

  3. The first part of this series is truly excellent. I didn’t enjoy the 2nd half as much, but it’s still really good. It’s definitely worth a watch. I’m convinced Spielberg believes in the phenomenon.

  4. Off topic but I looked up the series on wikipedia and saw that the Podesta Group had involvement with the series. I wonder how far back John Podesta’s interest in the topic goes?

  5. Spielberg’s ‘Taken’ (2002) contains surprisingly accurate depictions of what we experience even today with the whole UAP thing.

I selected some clips from various episodes. Note, the episode titles are custom and do not reflect the actual episode name.

Oh, and hello to the Eglin AFB agents.

  6. How weird that a tv show based on decades of ufo lore would be similar to the lore it’s based on? Just shows how little progress has actually been made because people would rather live in fantasy land.

  7. I am NOT criticizing or putting down OP, and I’m happy to see other people taking these things seriously — so please don’t take this as being negative in any way whatsoever, because that’s not my intent.

BUT: So many threads like this lately, bringing up stuff that’s just (I thought) very regular, commonly known UFO lore stuff — either depicted in a fictional work referencing true events or stories/accounts from the past etc.

Why? Are there a lot more new people than I’m assuming? There’s absolutely nothing in OP’s compilation that isn’t standard knowledge of the history of the US vis-à-vis UFOs. This is what we’ve always known/believed. This is the closest thing to a consensus you’ll find about wtf Roswell represents as an historical event, even if some details are debated among UFO folks.

So what’s the deal; is it really just the fact that a lot of people have newly begun to learn about all of this stuff that I have known/taken for *granted* for most of my life?

  8. Another one worth seeing and which follows the core themes is Dark Skies, by Bryce Zabel (Ross Coulthart’s podcast cohost and long time UFO researcher).

«Would you start invading countries you thought had already succumbed to the menace?»

    Indeed…
