Maths students have great fun making those patterns. However, real crop circles are much simpler and have measureable anomalous effects on the underlying vegetation.

The «aliens» either have no clue how to monitor our communications or this was man made.
Ones that are meant to be in line are not, each segment is a line but across the circle where the whole thing should be straight, but has been mapped out using the central rope separately, does not match up in a line as it should.
You can see from the way the crops have been squashed down this was done with board and rope, real ones do not look like this.
I believe it is in Wiltshire (?) The world capital for crop circle fraud and where it is a large money making industry for tourists and UFO obsessives. There are 3 or 4 different helicopter companies that provide private flights in the summer to tour the circles and a vast amount of on the ground businesses and guides and historians etc. Simply the amount of money and the number of well paid jobs that rely on these circles, meaning a lot of people have motive to ensure they are made and a NEED for a constant supply of new circles. 99.9% of circles in the Wiltshire area are fake, this is certain. Most are janky by the locals but because it’s an industry it attracts artists who create ones of this type.
One digit is also wrong. This is likely to laugh at the idiots who believe it’s real and to see how long after it was noted it was pi that it took the stupid UFO guys to realise one digit was wrong.
Who paid for Linda Moulton Howe et al to always travel back and forth to Wiltshire and promote the circles worldwide as the capital of circles and worth a visit? I doubt the credulous Investigators knew they were doing this though, probably thought the Wiltshire business owners wanted an answer. But they picked simpletons like Linda for a reason. There is a story about Wiltshire where the guy who came in off his own back pretty much immediately found evidence they were faked and was threatened by various people to keep his mouth shut. He didn’t, but people dismissed him as they want to believe. And people want things to be black and white but crop circles are in the grey zone where some real ones do exist. Just not in Wiltshire.
I would bet a lot of money that even back when the official stakeouts by Linda and co were done, a local ‘expert’ was always with them to ensure they were focused on the wrong area. Stakeout reports always note they were focused on the wrong field and how did the aliens know. It’s pretty obvious it wasn’t the aliens it was the local expert and guide with a hand in tricking you to be focused on the wrong area, knowing where they will appear already himself. People have noted that now stakeouts without a local guide are banned in order to ensure people respect the farmers etc — it’s more likely for this reason. This was almost definitely the case back then and this would make perfect sense to someone like Linda, as someone who is completely human saying they are half alien in a spooky way makes perfect sense to Linda. Anything Doty told her and Doty being a respectable, honest and trustworthy source made perfect sense to Linda’s generation of investigators.
It’s a beautiful circle but it’s definitely fake and I would say as well debunked as any of these can be. I believe in crop circles. I have seen close up UFOs twice and many weird things in the sky that are unexplained but I would not say we’re UFOs as can’t be sure. But Wiltshire is a total and complete scam and fraud and I would love the area to not be part of crop circles anymore.
I will go down there and be an undercover double agent, trying to get in on making the circles for the board next summer if you guys throw me the costs (I can’t work but have the ability that I could participate in the circles) — I’ll suggest it next spring! I’m confident I could get them admitting it’s a scam. Probably one or two were real originally and now it’s an industry — note it’s near stone henge and is targeting the same kind of people to extend their tourism trip? Coincidence? No.

So let me get this straight. NHI is going to travel tens or hundreds of light-years to get here, which would be a voyage that could only be undertaken with something like a city-ship and would take let’s say thousands of years, though it could be more like a million if you take into account the implausibility of such a voyage without advance scouting using robotic probes or similar to plan out resupply stops at star systems between there and here.
So let’s go for a happy medium and say it takes hundreds of thousands of years to get from there to here.
After a hundred thousand year journey, resupplying along the way, NHI is going to make contact not by parking in low Earth orbit where everybody can see the city-ship plainly and broadcasting a transmission that Earth’s astronomers and Ham radio operators and whatnot couldn’t possibly miss, just let me get this straight, they’re going to make contact instead by sneaking around in the shadows of major cities, hiding out in the woods, and drawing circles on crops.
And yet somehow these crops themselves are not evidence of a technological civilization on Sol 3, so instead they leave grade school puzzle books just to see if anybody down there who can climb up high enough to see the puzzle has discovered PI!

The method for making crop circles with a rope on a pole with somebody standing in the middle and accomplices walking pressing a board down to flatten the crops down in a ring shape is well established and there’s how-to guides all over youtube.
You can even see the ring shaped lines that the people followed to neatly flatten down the stalks.
All the crop circles are hoaxes. Easy to make. Lovely art project though.
