I saw one of those a week ago. Looks exactly like a Chinese lantern.

I caught 3 of them a few months ago in CHICAGO !! it looked as if they had a roaring fire burning in side the orbs, the floated slowly and slowly disappeared in to the sky. they weren’t drones either they did not land & it was the same level of cloudiness as in your video. they weren’t lanterns they did not levitate the same as lanterns they had a purposeful flight pattern. You’d end up seeing the paper lanterns eventually drop or go out these did not whatsoever. the 3 orbs floated in a STRAIGHT line from the united center towards little Italy where 2 separated as the 3rd went up in a faster speed.
The 2 then continued in a straight line on a windy night, and then they both took the same pattern but with a 120 send time difference. I fly drones spent time at the AF academy my BIL is a decorated Marine Pilot and have seen lanterns here and in Cali, these were NOT that . there is a difference when it is a actual flight pattern and paperbags floating on a wind current

Again they were not lanterns.

I saw this exact same thing and I thought oh an actual chinese lantern, then is suddenly got smaller, turned white and shot into space
I was over on 83rd and Brandon that night. It was a helicopter.
How did you first notice it? How long did you watch it?
Helicopter at a distance can look like that, have them fly over all the time.
Looks a bit like a laser being shined up into the clouds or fog a red laser pen

Could it be the ISS? I have seen it fly by a couple of times, in one of the situations it was very bright, at first I thought it was a ufo until i did my research about ISS flybys dates, times and direction in the sky, and it matched exactly with what I saw. This looks quite similar in terms of the color and speed.
