    Going from stationary to multiples the speed of sound in atmosphere — that’s called *acceleration*.

    As extreme as that may be, the underlying physics are actually very well understood: you have a craft maintaining altitude without possession of either a lifting body air frame, flight or flight control surfaces and disclosing nothing by way of constant propulsion going from zero to however many times the speed of sound — since constant propulsion isn’t in evidence, you’re looking at motion in any given direction brought about via inertia *burst* release of energy instead — it’s literally not rocket science and acceleration, no matter how rapid in onset — is still basically *acceleration*…

    That isn’t stretching anyone’s understanding of physics.

    Rapid changes in heading in rapid succession brought about in characteristically sharp, angular course changes at high speed without apparent loss of initial velocity — again, that’s not breaking a single physical law — it’s actually *consistent* with the behavior of a spinning mass acting under inertia only.

    Impossible for a conventional aircraft, yes — but then a conventional air craft can only stay in the air in the first place because of its possession of a lifting body air frame, flight and flight control surfaces and it’s mass acting under the influence of constant forward motion — literally everything a UFO characteristically doesn’t possess…

    So what does the UFO Community do? Try and figure out how the engine works, as if ones dealing with something that starts off on the ground and has to either push or pull itself into the air and keep doing that in order to maintain altitude.

    UFO’s clearly don’t use flight principal — equally, they enter atmosphere from space down — so, unlike any kind of conventional air craft — a UFO’s mass is starting off in a micro-gravitational environment traveling a minimum of 17,500 mph simply through inertia alone.

    It doesn’t require a *propulsion* system to explain it’s behavior — all you have to explain is how does it maintain and control altitude..?

    From the options available you’ve got two candidates: gravemetric and electromagnetic.

    The former is a total black hole when it comes to energy consumption, and the latter allows you to *induce* electrical energy direct from the planets electromagnetic field. [Space tethers](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_tether) are an actual technology — our current application of said technology is crude and hugely inefficient — the principal however is extremely well understood and, by simply inducing an EMF of its own — a field generating craft would have the means of bringing about a slower, safer entry into full atmosphere and maintain altitude indefinitely simply through operation: ie, assuming the principal of it’s mass is conductive, arranged gyrocentrically and induced to spin.

    That simple arrangement gives you a craft with all the observable physical behavior and characteristics of what one can only describe as being a UFO.

    No one’s breaking any known physics here, they’re simply applying what is known a little smarter than *we* currently do, that’s all.
